Begun in West Kent.

Programme Highlights

  • Mental health awareness workshops were developed and delivered to over 600 school pupils and 200 police officers. As the programmes were being evaluated using pre- and post-self-completion survey questionnaires, and subjective feedback evaluation forms, the training was tailored to make it more systematic and to deliver the core messages that emerged from our focus group research project.
  • The programme is organising a UK national conference for June 26th 2003 in Birmingham. The conference is titled: Reducing psychiatric stigma and discrimination: What Works? Showcasing best practice examples of anti-discrimination projects in mental health. It will bring together service users, carers, policy makers, people working in the field of mental health and researchers to share examples of current best practice.
