The Austria programme was one of the first pilot programmes and the first national campaign.

Programme Highlights

  • A television spot – in 15- and 30-second versions – was created and shown on Austrian television and in movie theatres. The television spots were nominated for the Upper Austrian Advertising Award in 2000 and won a bronze award in the Austrian Commercial Competition. 14% of viewer remembered the TV spot 4 months after it was broadcast.
  • More than 75,000 printed materials - folders, booklets, and newsletters - have been distributed.
  • More than 200 regional activities, including pesentations and educational programmes in schools, have taken place since the WPA-Anti-Stigma-Programme started in Austria.
  • A weekly page covering several mental health issues (prepared by the Austrian Society for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy) is featured in Austria's biggest newspaper, Kronenzeitung, which is widely read.
